What happened

Floyd Mayweather's X account posted a Pumpfun contract address (solana:Gjd3JUbNG2C3n5Ww98SfPxyWaqvDk2BkiKongGwEpump). The token ran from basically nothing to a $1.28M ATH and did millions in volume. The post disappeared, and 12 hours later CT still couldn't determine whether Mayweather launched a memecoin or was hacked.

Why it matters

A celebrity account posting a memecoin contract address, running it to a $1.28M ATH, then deleting everything — with no confirmation whether it was a hack or a deliberate launch — is the sharpest version of the celebrity-token trust problem CT has been circling all year. The community split between treating it as a rug (some bought the top and got cooked, others made 20x+) and treating it as an unverified hack keeps the story alive even after the posts are gone, because the token still trades and nobody knows whose hands it's in.

Observed reaction

Overwhelmingly mocking and bearish. @degen_mike14 frames it as a fall from grace ('richest athletes ever... rug pull in the trenches'), @choppatheshark calls buyers dumb, @iwantlambo notes two CAs posted an hour apart and one deleted, @leoaraiz_btw tallies the fumble at $300K. @z3ro_5um is uncertain whether the main account or the FOMO account was the source. @crytpo_hawkin reports personal losses. No one is defending Mayweather; the only unresolved thread is hack vs. intentional scam.

01

Floyd Mayweather's X account posted a Pumpfun contract address (solana:Gjd3JUbNG2C3n5Ww98SfPxyWaqvDk2BkiKongGwEpump).

02

The token ran from basically nothing to a $1.28M ATH and did millions in volume.

03

The post disappeared, and 12 hours later CT still couldn't determine whether Mayweather launched a memecoin or was hacked.

[1]
04

Some traders made 20x+; others bought the top and got cooked.

[1]
05

Floyd reportedly sold early for a few thousand dollars while CT was sending the coin higher.

[1]
06

Mayweather posted 2 CAs an hour apart and deleted the first one.

[1]
07

Mayweather created a FOMO account, shilled a token, dumped it for $5K, CT CTO'd the token and pumped it, he deleted the posts and the FOMO account — all in about 2 hours.

[1]
08

Mayweather sold for $5K profit, the token ran to $1M mcap, he fumbled $300K, and deleted everything.

[1]
09

@iwantlambo did not expect it from Floyd 'at least financially'.

[1]
10

@z3ro_5um asked whether the activity was on Floyd's main account.

[1]
11

@choppatheshark said anyone who bought the token is dumber than Floyd.

[1]
12

@degen_mike14 said Mayweather is 'down so bad he's come to rug pull in the trenches'.

[1]
13

@crytpo_hawkin said he lost his whole portfolio to the Floyd coin.

[1][2]
14

@bootzz said Mayweather signed up on 30,000 different wallets because he's broke and washed.

Earlier in the week @signalcalls described Injective reportedly taking a 10% position in Ninja Cat and opening a public FOMO account so anyone can track the trade (context for the 'FOMO account' phrasing).

Angles

  • Timeline card: FOMO account created, CA posted, token to $1.28M ATH, $5K sell, $300K fumble, posts and account deleted — one image, no editorializing, ask 'hack or launch?'
  • The unverified-hack angle: the CA is still on-chain, Mayweather hasn't confirmed anything, and the 'FOMO account' channel matches the phrasing used earlier in the week by @signalcalls about Injective's public FOMO account — is 'FOMO account' now a meme template?
  • The $1.28M-Ath vs. 'bought the top' split: surface the 20x+ winners and the cooked buyers side by side as a culture-of-memecoin-risk post, no price commentary on the token itself.

Formats in use

  • bullet-point breakdown of the timeline (create account, shill, dump, delete)
  • quote-tweets stacking alternative accounts onto the same story
  • screenshot of the deleted post / contract address
  • loss-post / 'fml' confession format

Risks

  • Do not state as fact that Mayweather was hacked or that he rugged — both are unverified; frame as 'accounts claim' / 'hack vs. intentional still unresolved'.
  • The $5K sell and $300K fumble numbers come from CT accounts, not from Mayweather or on-chain verification — attribute them.
  • Do not repeat the 'he's broke/washed' framing or 'signed up on 30,000 wallets' as fact; that is @bootzz's mockery, not evidence.
  • No price predictions or 'buy the CTO' framing — the token is a celebrity memecoin with an unresolved origin.
  • The replies from @crytpo_hawkin about losing a whole portfolio are personal loss posts; do not use them as a data point for scale of the event.
