What happened

@gmartin_0 said the biggest crypto exchange was getting hacked, called it scary times for buying #Bitcoin, and said his $77.5K and $76.5K BTC orders were filled with a $76.2K average and liquidity between $72K-$74K. @gmartin_0 later said BTC was still holding above 75k despite the Binance hacking news, and that bears claim they called it. @iwantlambo said everyone was joking about Hyperliquid getting hacked that day but it ended up being Binance.

Why it matters

A Binance-level security scare is the single biggest test of CT's collective nerve this week: it forced traders to decide whether to buy the panic or flee, revived the self-custody versus CEX debate, and produced second-order takes about hardware wallets and Lazarus-style threats. If the incident is confirmed, it will shape how the market treats exchange risk for months; if not, the false-alarm pattern is its own story.

Observed reaction

Mostly shocked and cynical, with a mocking tone aimed at bad actors. Traders like @gmartin_0 stayed bullish on BTC and used the dip to fill orders. @iwantlambo laughed that the predicted target (Hyperliquid) was wrong and it was Binance. @akuwazir pushed back on mocking a hack, citing solidarity. @murkiwaters and @mranorld93 turned it into a self-custody safety argument, while @bsvdrip called the reactions a trap.

Angles

  • Explain what is actually confirmed about the Binance incident versus what is speculation, with a timeline of which posts said what and when.
  • Map the second-wave narratives the hack triggered: self-custody/hardware wallets, Lazarus-style groups, and the 'go decentralized again' argument.
  • Compare how CT reacted to the rumored Hyperliquid hack earlier the same day versus the Binance news that followed.

Formats in use

  • quote/commentary

  • price-level breakdown

Risks

  • The Binance hack is unverified in these posts; treat it as an unverified incident and avoid stating it as confirmed.
  • Do not repeat or amplify the alleged 254,045 bot figure from @bsvdrip as fact.
  • No price predictions or advice, even when quoting traders' own allocations and levels.
  • Flag that some posts read as coordinated engagement-bait around a security scare.

Scary times to be buying #Bitcoin... The last thing you want to see is the biggest crypto exchange getting hacked. But I still got my $77.5K and $76.5K orders filled. I’m now 75% allocated, with a $76.2K buying average. My remaining liquidity is sitting below the September lo
